Jonathan Sibley - Overcoming Immunity to Change

Speaker: Jonathan Sibley, Jonathan Sibley Coaching, T: 973-337-6017, E: js@jonathansibley.net, W: www.jonathansibley.net

Jonathan Sibley coaches business leaders, executives, and management teams to greater effectiveness in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and German. Jonathan has coached a variety of executives, within for-profit and not-for-profit companies, from mid-level executives to the chairperson of a board of directors.

Prior to coaching, during his career at American Express, Jonathan led cross-functional product development teams, oversaw a 4 million dollar technology budget, served as an internal and external consultant with executives in Fortune 500 companies, and was the recipient of multiple awards for quality and innovation.

Jonathan holds an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France, an MSW from Columbia University, and a BA from Princeton University.

Today's Topic: OVERCOMING IMMUNITY TO CHANGE

Whether we are trying to lose weight and exercise more, become better listeners, delegate more, or treat people differently, our best intentions are often no match for our internal systems that make us immune to certain types of change.

Harvard Professors Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey have developed a powerful way of working with individuals and teams to identify and overcome obstacles that often make us "immune" to well-meaning efforts to change.

Jonathan Sibley will take us through Kegan and Lahey's methodology, using group participation, to explore an example of how to identify and begin to address the types of change that are so often prone to failure.

Topic: Build a New Kind of Wealth: Social Capital

In your rush to use online social networking to find a job, many of you may be downplaying your key face-to-face relationship-building skills. While it can be easier to interact with an inanimate computer, it won’t ever replace your need to develop stellar communication skills to build your “network of knob turners” in person. Learn from an international networking authority how to prepare before an event or meeting, work it and follow up for maximum results. Seeing the white of someone’s eyes is still the surest way to get a job!
