Answers

· I forgot my password, how do I access the site?

Click on the "Forgot password?" button located directly below the Username and Password boxes. You will be prompted for the user name associated with your ChemPharma profile.  After typing your user name and pressing the enter key, a new password will be sent to you at the email address that you have registered on the ChemPharma site.

Only ChemPharma members can change their passwords to whatever they want.  After logging onto the website, members can select "User Profile" from the "Members Only" menu item at the top of the screen and change their password as described below (click this link).

Note: if you just want to update your profile without changing your password, simply leave the two spaces blank.

· I can't seem to log in. What could be wrong?

Two of the most common reasons for not being able to log into the website are: 1) forgetting your User Name and trying to log into the site with the incorrect name 2) using an incorrect password or mistyping your password.  If you have forgotten your user name, contact the website support team.  They will be able to help you link your name and email address to the correct User Name.  Forgotten passwords can be resolved using the "Forgot password?" button.

Another solution could be related to cookies.  This website uses cookies. Make sure that your browser is set to allow cookies (at least cookies from ChemPharm.net). In addition, make sure you log into ChemPharma.net not ChemPharma.org. Even though you get redirected, it has been reported that the cookies don't work correctly when you are redirected through the old Chemphara address.

It has also been reported that the AOL web browser does not work very well.  Use Internet Explorer or Mozilla on the PC or Safari on the Mac for the best results.  If you continue to have problems with functions on the website, try closing all browser windows and then relaunching the application.

If this does not resolve your issues, please contact the website support team for help.  Keep in mind we are all volunteers whenever a response to your question is not immediate.

· I am a first time visitor. I am asked for a User Name and Password, but I don't have one. Do I have to pay?

You need to register with the site to obtain a User Name and password.  This process will allow you to register for networking events and enable you to be notified by email about important networking events sponsored by ChemPharma or its alliance partners.  Use of the website is reserved for paid members only, but you can view upcoming events without paying.  Attending most networking events at a local chapter is free, but sometimes there is a minimal cost to cover expenses for the event.

To reap the full benefits of the site, you must become a member of ChemPharma.

· How do I register with the site to obtain a User Name and Password?

Registering with the site to obtain a User Name and password is easy.  From the ChemPharma Home page, click on the "Sign Up Now" button at the top of the page or the "Register" button in the "Member Login" window. Either of these actions will take you to the "Become a Member" page where you can follow the instructions to become a member or simply register with the site. The second paragraph of this page provides a link to the "ChemPharma® User Sign-up" page.

A registered User has limited access to the website.  In order to have full access to the forums, receive job leads, participate in mailing lists, access member lists, communicate with other members and more, you must become a full ChemPharma member. Acceptance as a new USER is instantaneous.

To begin the process, first select a User Name and password that will be easy to remember. Capitalization is not critical for the User Name, however, it is absolutely critical for the Password. NOTE that it is extremely important for you to remember your User Name because you will need it to retrieve a password if you forget it.  If you forget your User Name, you will need to contact someone on the website support team to retrieve it.

Your email address is just as critical. All correspondence (reset passwords, meeting notices, etc.) will go to this address. More importantly, several site functions require that you are logged in from that server to work properly.

After you have completed all of the other required fields, indicated by an asterisk (*) on the form, click the "Register" button at the bottom of the form to complete the registration process.  A message will be displayed on the screen indicating that the process is complete. You should be able to log in with your User Name and password.

· How do I send e-mails to members as a group?

You first need to be a full member of ChemPharma. Full members can send messages to the various e-mail listings by simply addressing the message to, for example, NewJerseyGroup@ChemPharma.net. All members who have signed up to be part of that mailing list will receive your message.
Please be responsible in "blasting" e-mails to the membership at large. In many cases searching the membership directory, and sending targetted e-mails to just those members most likely to be able to help, works much better than a blast.
